Transforming Teaching: Exploring Genially's Interactive Learning
Transforming Teaching: Exploring Genially's Interactive Learning
What is Genially
Genially is an online platform that offers English language teachers a dynamic method to create engaging and interactive learning materials. This week, I am intend to use Genially for creating an interactive material for students in classroom and at the same time, providing a tool that helps students to present their incredible digital project.
What you can create with Genially
For teachers, it is time-consuming while making a clear but attractive Powerpoint if you are not very proficient about it. Genially is for you! It incorporates loads of templates including presentation, inforgraphics, gamification, interactive image, etc. All of these functions contribute a lot in encouraging students to focus on the Teacher’s presentation.
While I scrolling down the pages, I noticed one eye-catching template that is about introducing a classic fairy tale. It is amazing with its music that makes you immersed in its background settings, and the moving graphics making the story presentation into a cartoon.
In a reading class, Teachers could use Genially to assist in the story telling process as well as emphasizing the unfamiliar words in the input. After that, the gamification also makes efforts in reviewing the previous information and checking students’ understanding in a less-stressed way.
Apart from presentation material, it is also a meaningful way to introduce student's own projects.
For students,in order to make use of this tool in my virtual class, I plan to design an activity that is about using interactive image to a topic ‘ A Day in London'. Among the templates, I found one template is suitable for sharing the travel experience even if it is not related to London at all.
Then, I changed the background picture, the music and the interactive information to the sightseeing in London, making it like a virtual travel leaflet that introduces the map and the route in London for a one-day city-walk.

Limitations
However, taking into its limitation as consideration, I found it difficult to use the inforgraphics with many cartoon and interactive messages because there is no detailed information about the function of each button in the produce process ahead of time.
Here is a video that is very helpful to familiarize the functions of Genially in details.
Thank you for your reading.

I think this is quiet useful when I need to prepare for lessons. Actually I always think preparing for lessons are time-consuming. Maybe I will use this software in the future!
