Magic School-The Best 'Teaching Assistant'

Magic school is friendly-using for teachers to prepare for their class. There are sufficient choices of tools that can be classified as ‘planning’, ‘content’, ‘ questions’, ‘intellectual prep’, ‘student support’, ‘communication’ and ‘community tools’ due to teacher’s personal needs.

 

By the way, the most convenient function is that all of the orders and output will be recorded by time. 



Planning

As I used ‘magic school’ to prepare for a lesson which is focused on ‘present perfect tense in describing the cultural difference between spring festival and Christmas in China’. Then, I chose the ‘teaching plan’ tool, which gave me a standard lesson plan with every key parts available. However, the activity provided is not suitable for the 10th grade students, as talking about the similarity and difference between the two festivals. It is too vague to implement in classroom and it is not attractive and interesting enough to encourage free and relaxed discussion.

In order to get a more creative idea, I made a detailed inquiry about the activity in 'Group Work Generator', then the AI responded quickly, providing some good ideas like’ comparative task cards’,’guessing game’, ‘interview and surveys’.

Apart from the lesson plan, the ‘Rubric Generator’ offers an assessment criterion for learner’s understanding of target language in order to improve the lesson plan if needed.

 


Content

In order to provide a high-quality teaching material, the ‘Informational Texts’ can automatically generate an original text according to learner’s level and the topic. Then, the text can be adapted to another edition based on the teacher’s needs by ‘Text Rewriter’. It could be transformed by lowering the level of grammar, vocabulary or sentence complexity.

 


Student support

‘Accommodation Strategies’ aims to diagnose the problem and then give advice. I wrote one problematic situation that students are easily distracted and feel sleepy, then it quickly responded with some strategies. 

 


Communication

Sometimes writing an email or replying could be time-consuming, the ‘Professional Email’ could present an ideal and polite email, taking consideration of the requirement. For example, I intent to write an email about canceling the order because insufficient money, which is an impolite behavior. The AI generates the email as follows, which reaches my needs of expressing my apology.
